Vijyalaxmi started her musical journey as a child eagerly singing various forms of light music. Later on she developed a passion for classical music driven by the desire to produce a more complex variety of melodies.
Music is a performing art and ultimately it is the sheer dedication and sadhana that makes one a musician. As well as her sadhana and natural ability she has been very fortunate to have excellent training for 13 years from various teachers.
- For six years she has trained under a well acclaimed vocalist from calcutta Shreemati Krishna Chakraborty.
- Mukesh Desai the disciple of Pt. Jasraj of Mevati Gharana taught her gharana style vocal science.
- Prior to that she trained under the Late Chandan Mishra who was an academic genius and has bestowed upon Vijyalaxmi the academic gifts of Music.
- She has also received guidance from Pandit Rajan and Sajan Mishra of Benaras Gharana .
- Late Bireshwar Gautam the disciple of Shobha Gurtu has guided her with the highly romantic style of thumri singing.
